Soweto Inside Out: Stories About Africa’s Famous Township Edited by Adam Roberts and Joe Thloloe (Penguin Books)
|
More than 100 years after the first forced removals of black South Africans from central Johannesburg to the banks of the Klipspruit River, it’s surprising that there aren’t more books available on such a phenomenal place. This collection of stories by a wide range of writers from publications such as Drum,Time Magazine and The New York Times, some born and raised in the world-famous city, does a very good job of celebrating the melting pot that is Soweto today, and helping us remember its remarkable past. |
